Also, comparing the Sox' schedule with the Twinks:
I think we all know that they have the three-game series against eachother coming up.
Both have a series with KC and Cleveland remaining -- a wash.
Other than that, the Sox face Detroit and the Skankees, Minnesota goes up again Tampa Bay and Baltimore. Having to play TB kinda chinks away at the advantage of playing Baltimore, it's quite possible they walk away with a 3-4 record from those games.
Keep in mind, I haven't checked the home/away splits for these games -- home field seems to be more of an advantage this year than I recall in the recent past, so there's always that.
OK, enough optimism for one night. I now turn the forum back over to 'Oats and Wishful....

The Sox will go as far as their pitching will take them. The offense needs to show up once in awhile, too, but pitching and defense wins in the playoffs. Hope the Sox' pitching can revert to April/May form.

Last night is a perfect example of why the Sox make me nervous for the rest of the season (ideally including the playoffs, natch): Floyd gave them a great start, got into trouble late, and the BP screwed the pooch. I can understand a couple of Floyd's runs getting in, but there was no damage control whatsoever.

Should this topic have a name change to 2010 White Sox?

I think it should stay 2008 forever.

I think the nice thing about the latest WXing meltdown / this site is that we can skip straight from 2008 to 2010.
No 2009 here.

I like our idea of staying in 2008.
Well, they finally arrested Blagojevich. About time. Now watch him go and appoint someone like Roland Burris to fill Baraka's seat. Actually, that would be pretty entertaining.

That Ramirez kid sure was a pleasant surprise! Guess the second base position is solidified for the next few years.

Definitely.
And if he wasn't already, Thome has certainly made himself a permanent fixture on the South Side with that clutch blast in game 163.

If Wise can keep up his clutch hitting as well, I think we should be set in the outfield for years.
